LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Las Vegas' Mountain Ridge Little League team was handed the U.S.
Championship it lost in last year's Little League World Series
after the ruling body stripped its opponent of the title.
On Wednesday, Little League International ruled the Jackie
Robinson West Little League violated rules by placing ineligible
players on their team who lived outside the team's boundaries.
The Little League International also determined the Chicago-area
team falsified boundary maps as part of fielding the ineligible
players.
As a result, the team must vacate its wins in the 2014
tournament, which includes its victory against Mountain Ridge
Little League.
Mountain Ridge went on to lose against the Illinois team in the
U.S. final as well as the consolation game.
Due to Jackie Robinson West's punishment, Mountain Ridge will be
recognized as the U.S. Champion in last year's tournament.
The ruling marked the third time in the Little League World
Series' 68-year history that punitive actions led to vacating
wins from a league.
