I'm not sure what you've been talking about, it's all been quite a while ago. I've met many people who posted to avlv, but I don't recall any kind of actual drama ever being involved. I met Mikey once at a local grocery store, we talked for about 15-20 minutes, like two people from work who bumped into each other and that was that. As I recall he seemed like a pretty nice guy irl. Like everyone else. As I recall it was tom ronson who I was having a feud with at one time and the person I would supposedly be afraid of. But we got along just fine sitting together at dinner. I think there was a youtube video of all that. The only reason why I'd hold back on meeting someone is if they were incredibly repulsive or seemed actually dangerous as in psychotic. So if I avoided you, it's really not something to pat yourself on the back over. More likely I just forgot about it.

I'm not sure what you've been talking about, it's all been quite a while ago.
I've met many people who posted to avlv, but I don't recall any kind of

Some years back, people got tired of the flame wars, personal attacks
and attempts to disrupt people's lives outside of the newsgroup with
legal action and such. Since it the newsgroup was unmoderated there
was no way to keep undesirables out so it was moved, first to a Yahoo
group and then somewhere else where only approved members can access
the group.

FWIW, I was there when Big Mikey showed up at the Main Street Station
bar, ostensibly to beat up someone, but he calmed down and tried to
join with the group and its activities, although he wasn't well
received. It was reported about a year later that Big Mikey had died,
although as far as I know the report hasn't been verified.

...and yes, it's still Usenet.
